Service A & Service B Explained for 2022 Chicago, IL
Learning the Difference Between Service A & Service B for Your Mercedes-Benz
If you’ve come across “Service A” and “Service B” terminology in your search for either quality service or even your next new vehicle, you might not know exactly what that means. Don’t worry, we’re here to fix that. Simply put, Service A and Service B are different service packages recommended at alternating intervals by Mercedes-Benz. No matter what you need, our certified technicians at Mercedes-Benz of Orland Park are eager to fulfill all of your service needs. Whether your vehicle needs regular maintenance or if it needs more intensive work, we’ve got you covered.
What is Service A?
Like any vehicle, your Mercedes-Benz requires regular maintenance to continue to serve you for years to come. Service A is the first service your new Mercedes will receive at the first scheduled service appointment. This is done at 10,000 miles the first time, then every 20,000 miles after that (or after one year, every two years after that, respectively). Service A includes an oil and oil filter change, fluid inspection, tire inspection, and brake inspection to ensure all components are working properly. After the service is completed, the maintenance counter is reset to notify you of the next time your Mercedes will need to be serviced.
What is Service B?
Service B is very similar to Service A and is equally important. Your vehicle’s Service B appointment will be performed at 10,000 miles or one year after the previous service. It includes everything Service A involves (oil & oil filter change, fluid/tire/brake inspection) with the addition of a cabin filter replacement and a brake fluid exchange. If it sounds odd to exchange your brake fluid every 20,000 miles/two years, know that it’s for a good reason. Brake fluid is naturally hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs water over time. If your vehicle’s brake fluid absorbs too much water, your braking performance will quickly degrade. Exchanging your brake fluid with every Service B appointment helps to ensure your Mercedes-Benz operates as good as the day it drove off the lot.
